The Agatha Christie Weekend in Wallingford is an annual event that celebrates the life and work of the world-renowned crime novelist. Typically held in mid-September, the weekend offers a range of activities that immerse visitors in Christie’s world, reflecting her deep connection to Wallingford, where she lived and wrote for over four decades.

The event usually features guided tours that take visitors through key locations in the town associated with Christie, including her home and places that inspired scenes in her novels. There are also talks and lectures by Christie experts, offering fascinating insights into her writing process, life, and the enduring appeal of her stories.

For those who enjoy a bit of mystery themselves, the weekend often includes live “whodunnit” performances where attendees can participate in solving a staged murder mystery, a nod to Christie’s most famous works. Art workshops and literary sessions are also common, encouraging creativity and offering a hands-on experience in the world of crime fiction.

The Agatha Christie Weekend is designed to cater to all ages, making it a family-friendly event. It’s not just for die-hard fans of her work; the weekend is also a chance for anyone interested in literature, history, or drama to engage with the rich cultural heritage of Wallingford and celebrate one of its most famous residents.
