With 2020 being a somewhat questionable year, owners of The Keep Sam Smith and Rob McGregor, have continued to adapt their business in order to align with the current situation we are in. The Keep has been such a huge success as a craft beer and specialist spirits bar and they have even gone on to sell their very own gin, Albino Flamingo. To stay open during the pandemic the bar was converted to an off-license and online shop selling a huge variety of unique and local craft beers and spirits showcasing some of the best produce from around the world and locally. They are now broadening their opportunities in opening a new bar/restaurant called Five Little Pigs, with the name coming from an Agatha Christie novel, who of course is an ex-resident of the area.
Partnering with Aimee Hunt who is an award winning chef and Wallingford resident, you can expect seasonal menus for brunch, lunch, dinner and bar snacks, utilizing locally sourced produce to provide modern European food and a broad drinks menu demonstrating their knowledge in the industry.
Want a quiet night with a friend, or want a celebration? They have got it covered offering you a balance of three separate sections including, a bar area, casual dining and private booth dining to give you the option of how you want to spend your evening and occasion. Oh and they have more than one toilet…
With the hope of opening in Spring 2021 they have begun a Kickstarter campaign relying on that local community spirit that Wallingford is so renowned for to support their vision in bringing entertainment and joy to the town of Wallingford. Although they are already way ahead of their initial goal, donations are still very much needed and you can donate on the Kickstarter page below. When you pledge, in return you can receive a variety of things such as, hampers, tickets, gin tastings and the hire of the bar for events such as weddings. You can even get a cocktail named after on you on the menu or have the owner, Sam, cut your grass!
