Didcot and Wallingford

Every year for the past 3 years Ian and the breakfast show team present a 24hr Show to raise money and awareness for local charities and organisations.

This year we have chosen TRAIN. TRAIN WORKS WITH, AND FOR, ALL YOUNG PEOPLE IN DIDCOT AND WALLINGFORD

TRAIN stands for To Reach out And INteract with young people. This is exactly what our youth workers and volunteers do. We go out and talk to young people that gather on the streets, in the parks or wherever. We offer alternatives to hanging around, give information or just offer a listening ear. TRAIN exists to improve the life opportunities of children and young people in Didcot and surrounding areas, especially those who are in need, disadvantaged or vulnerable, by empowering them to make informed decisions, attain stability, and become integrated members of society. We empower young people to believe in their self-worth, to make good life choices, to accept and value their right to healthy and safe relationships … and we watch their relationships with family, school and the wider community improve.

Young people shape what TRAIN is, and what the organisation will look like in the future.

We believe that programmes that are developed in partnership with young people are more likely to be effective at engaging them and, therefore, have a greater impact.

Young people shape what TRAIN is, and what the organisation will look like in the future. TRAIN is in contact with 350 young people in an average year and they are TRAIN’s biggest asset. We believe that programmes that are developed in partnership with young people are more likely to be effective at engaging them and, therefore, have a greater impact.
